Farm Fresh Jalapeño

This was my first attempt at canning. Surprisingly, it was very easy. I was always scared canning was going to be this huge process and that I would mess it all up. This was the perfect thing to can for my first time. Now, we will have fresh Jalapeño all year long! These are homegrown Jalapeños which makes them even more delicious.

Okay, I am going to share a little secret. I didn't seal these jars!!  I know that's not the normal routine when canning... but even without sealing the jars they will last a year! Skipping this step cut down on the time it took for the whole process. If you wanted the jalapeños to last longer than a year you would want to seal the cans. I didn't care to do that because I wanted this to be easy and quick.

All You Need:

Jalapeño (as many as you want to can)
Glass jars with lids
White Vinegar

So, what I did first was pour about 1 1/2 cups of white vinegar into a pot. You want to boil the vinegar so that it is extremely hot. While the vinegar is heating up, cut off or tear off the tops of the jalapeños. After that is done, stuff the jalapeños into the jars. Make sure there is no wiggle room. Next, use a funnel to pour the vinegar into each jar. Make sure every jalapeño is covered with the vinegar. Once this process is done put on the lids very tight. Then, let the jars sit out till they have cooled down. Once they have cooled enough place them in the fridge. Presto! That't it! You are finished! Now, each time you need a jalapeños just go in the fridge and take out your jar. Fresh Jalapeños every time!

Tune in for Tips

Today's Tip is, Peppermint..... Peppermint has so many uses such as;
  • Rub on temples after you wake up for a morning energy boost.
  • Diffuse when feeling fatigued or low on energy.
  • Take one to two drops in a Veggie Capsule to alleviate occasional stomach upset.*
  • Promotes digestive health.*
  • Place one drop in your mouth to help freshen breath.
  • Add two to three drops to your favorite smoothie recipe for a refreshing twist.
  • Place one drop in palm of hand with one drop Wild Orange and one drop Frankincense and inhale for a mid-day pick-me-up.
  • Helps reduce bloating, gas, and occasional indigestion.*
  • Promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing.*
  • Commonly found in oral health products.
  • Blends well with Lavender for a soothing massage blend.
  • Add to cold water compress or foot bath to cool off when overheated.
  • Inhale for a non-stimulant, invigorating pick-me- up on long drives.
  • Add to shampoo or conditioner for a stimulating hair massage.
  • Repels bugs naturally.
  • Spritz around windows and doors.
  • Diffuse during study-time.
  • Apply topically to relieve feelings of tension.

Peppermint is also great for lip gloss!!  It gives your lips that nice tingling feeling. I like adding about 2-4 drops of Peppermint oil into my lip gloss depending on the size of the tube.

Tips

I am starting a new thing called "Tune In For Tips"
I will highlight one essential oil and show you a special way to use that oil.

Does it ever bother you that right after you cut apples, they turn brown? Well, that used to bother me till I found this little trick. Best way to keep apples from turning brown is by using ON GUARD!!

All you do is cut the apples and put them in a bowl and cover the apples with water, then add 4-5 drops of On Guard in the water... You'll notice a huge difference from regular cut apples and ones in On Guard water! You'll love the new hint of flavor as well. Try it! You won't be disappointed you did.

Eating Healthy

Using essential oils is a very important part of staying healthy although, WE also need to be watching what foods we are putting into our bodies. The essential oils can drastically improve your health but they don't magically make it healthy for you to go eat a Big Mac and shake! We need to be eating things that are going to make us feel energized and strong!  I am not saying to totally change your diet right away... you can start slow like I did.

First I started eating salads (spinach salads) as a side dish. I would take spinach and put feta cheese, cucumbers, carrots, and avocados..... So yummy! Then, I started eating fruit for a light snack. After that I starting making healthy smoothies every morning. I would put in some frozen fruit (fresh fruit if I had it) and lots of kale and spinach! I would also add half of a banana and some Naked juice to make it more smoothie like. I was shocked that you couldn't even taste the kale or spinach... but I knew I was getting some healthy nutrition every time I had my smoothie. I also have been buying more and more organic food... which I can tell is so much better for me and my family. I also try to buy food from the famers market or local famers who have fresh fruits and vegetables. Just start small and you will notice a huge change in the way you feel!

What are some healthy meals you eat?
